High-density hosting facility reduces data center footprint and lowers costs

Energy Efficient Building has highest power efficiency in New York region

Cedar Knolls, New Jersey - February 23, 2010 - Net Access Corporation, a leading provider of Internet access and data center hosting solutions in the New York metropolitan region, announced today that construction has started on a new 50,000 square foot data center in Parsippany, New Jersey. This new ultra-high density data center will be designed to offer clients more usable rack space per square foot than any other facility in northern New Jersey.

With up to 25,000 watts of power per data cabinet, or about five times more than the industry average of competitors' data centers, Net Access' new facility will enable customers to utilize their entire cabinet, reducing the total cost per usable rack unit. It also will offer customers a metered power billing model, which charges customers only for the power that they actually consume, rather than a flat price for the full capacity of a circuit.

“In designing this data center, we looked at best practices throughout the industry and investigated all the ways that we could improve upon them - which resulted in the construction of a facility that offers clients the most efficient use of space and energy in the region,” said Alex Rubenstein, CTO and co-founder of Net Access Corporation. “We're pleased to offer a solution that both reduces costs for our customers and recognizes that energy efficiency is not only good for the environment, but also for our customers' bottom line.”

Net Access has utilized the most up-to-date, environmentally friendly building materials and energy efficiency technologies to help power the facility. With the lowest PUE power efficiency rating in the region, and a 350 kilowatt solar array, this is among the only data centers in the New York metropolitan area using solar power to reduce its draw on the commercial electric grid.

The new data center is in a single-floor, single tenant building. It offers two (N+1) power systems, each of which are fully isolated from the other and housed in separate power rooms on opposite sides of the building. Dark fiber connectivity is available to major carrier hotels.

As with its other facilities in Parsippany and Cedar Knolls, Net Access provides an on-site network operations center (NOC) and multi-tier security with two-stage biometrics and man traps, paired with continuous on-site security and local and remote video surveillance.
